Imperial Theatre’s Keep IT Live! Capital Campaign will take centre stage with a Red Carpet Gala concert when internationally renowned soprano Wendy Nielsen and friends perform.
For this spectacular fundraising concert, Ms. Nielsen has personally invited a broad range of singers and musicians to join her for this important cause. An extraordinary evening of song featuring exceptional singers and musicians, this Red Carpet Gala concert will bring to Imperial Theatre’s stage esteemed, world-renowned talent, many of who are originally from Saint John. Among her performing friends are:
- Robert Kortgaard - Canadian concert pianist, formerly resident musician at UNB for 5 years
- Erik Oland - Saint John native, and professional baritone, prior to being ordained a Jesuit priest in 2003
- Philip Thomson - Saint John native and world-renowned pianist
- The Sopranos - Saint John sopranos Dayna Van Doleweerd, Colleen Foster, Theresa Patterson, Luan Salmon, Cynthia Doyle, Deantha Edmunds, Fairlie McLean, & Maureen Stackhouse, accompanied by Bertis Sutton, organist and pianist, and past Imperial Theatre Board Member
- Isaac & Blewett - New Brunswick’s soulful blues duo, songwriters who also sing and play cello, banjo and guitar
- David Myles - New Brunswick folksinger and songwriter, winner of the 2009 ECMA Folk Recording of the Year Award
The evening will include solo turns and captivating collaborations, as voices come together to perform some of music’s greatest masterpieces, such as Vissi d’arte from Tosca, Who Will Buy? from Oliver, Beethoven’s Adelaide, as well as folk songs, holiday favourites and the debut of two new songs by Saint John composer, Bev Lewis.
