Saint Mary's Band & 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band
Marching to the Movies - A Fundraising Concert
Thursday, October 22 - 7:30 p.m.

Saint Mary's Band

3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band

Join Saint John’s only remaining community band Saint Mary’s Band and New Brunswick’s only military band The 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band as they come together for a special evening of music in support of Imperial Theatre’s Keep IT Live! Capital Campaign.

Led by conductors Captain Michael Molloy and Andrea Lewis and hosted by David Goss, Marching to the Movies will set your toes a-tapping as the massed bands perform a lively mix of Hollywood favourites such as music from The Sting, Paul Anka’s The Longest Day, American Bandstand’s Bandstand Boogie, music from A Bug’s Life, as well as marches such as Aces High and Colonel Bogey, classical pieces such as Rondeau and Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony - and more!

In June 2008, Imperial Theatre launched its Keep IT Live! Capital Campaign to raise funds for significant repairs and replacements due to wear and tear, technological changes, and to grow its endowment fund. To date, the Campaign has raised $2.2 million of its $2.5 million fundraising goal. This fundraising concert will combine both bands and promises to be an exhilarating evening of music featuring over 60 musicians!

Tickets: $25

About Saint Mary’s Band

Saint Mary’s Band is a community-based, brass and reed ensemble with approximately 40 members. Formed in 1903 as a youth outreach program of Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, Saint Mary’s Band provided music for the citizens of Saint John until 1917 when two-thirds of its members enlisted and went overseas to become Band of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. After the First World War, the members returned to Saint John, re-established the Band and continue to play music in the city over 100 years later.

About The 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band

The 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band was formed in 1948 and still maintains strong regimental affiliations with 3rd Field, Canada’s oldest artillery regiment. Over the years, the band has established itself as an exceptional ensemble, performing for Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Lady Diana, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, as well as Governors General Hynatshyn and Clarkson. In 2002, the Band was honoured to be the only Primary Reserve band to play for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Fredericton in her Golden Jubilee year visit to Canada. The 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band has 31 members, most of who are members of the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve.
