Harbour View High School is located on the beautiful and historic Douglas Avenue in Saint John, New Brunswick. The tradition of theatre at Harbour View began with Marco Polo: The Musical which was written and performed by local artists. The tradition continues annually with such productions as Anything Goes, Little Women, and Les Misérables. Last year we successfully produced two shows: Godspell in the fall followed by Anne of Green Gables in the spring.
This year marks our second production at Imperial Theatre. Our first was Beauty and the Beast in 2005 which was sold out and held over for an additional performance. We are very excited to be back on the Imperial stage with Phantom of the Opera. Producing a show at the Imperial Theatre is a great educational opportunity for our students as well as the entire Harbour View community.
Phantom of the Opera, based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, was made popular again by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the 1986 musical. It is a tragic tale of love, lust, and desire. Set in the Paris Opera House in 18__ the play is a flashback on the tragedies that occurred under the ever watchful eye of the Opera Ghost. Christine Daae, a young soprano, is the ingénue caught in a love triangle with her childhood sweetheart Raoul and her tutor, the Opera Ghost. Tragedy ensues when The Phantom, a recluse who has lived his life in the catacombs of Paris, is jealous of Raoul and will spare nothing to the heart of Christine.
This timeless musical features classic songs such as: Think of Me, Angel of Music, All I Ask of You, Masquerade, and the majestic theme - Phantom of the Opera.
