Kaha:wi - A Story Before Time
Saturday, February 4 - 2 p.m.

Kaha:wi - A Story Before Time

Visually stunning, musically rich and theatrically compelling, this spectacular dance work for families and school-age children is mesmerizingly entertaining and insightful.

The wondrous Sky World is shimmering as the Sky Beings dance like stars in the cosmos. Amidst the celebrations, Sky Woman falls through the roots of the Celestial Tree and tumbles into the blue where the animals live and Life on Turtle’s back - and Sky Woman’s adventure - begin. With the animals by her side, Sky Woman sings and dances her mystical and beautiful world into existence.

Based on the Iroquois Creation Story, A Story Before Time is told through original music, theatre, dance and charming costumes that beautifully blend tradition with modern sensibilities.

Pre/Post-Show Guide for Families

Nominated for two Dora Mavor Moore Awards in 2008, the gorgeous A Story Before Time features a musical score by composer Donald Quan and successfully blends traditional Iroquoian social songs and contemporary music, incorporating both Mohawk and Cayuga languages. Featuring vocals by ElizaBeth Hill, Faron John, Ol’Mush Singers and Santee Smith, the storyteller weaves the story with narration written by acclaimed Ojibway playwright Drew Hayden Taylor.
