Emulating Ottmar Liebert and Paco de Lucia, Jorge has but one mission at his fingertips: to carry us away, to take us around the world with him.
Namely to his native Argentina, the road between Jorge Martinez’s guitar and his listener’s souls is a road well-travelled. With remarkable virtuosity, he composes and performs flamenco- inspired music, with latin and oriental accents. But be warned: the man plays faster than the speed of light. When he flies off on magical solos, Jorge never does so alone - he takes us with him. He has that special gift of being able to draw us out of our everyday reality with a single riff.
Spectators in Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Mexico, Argentina and Italy or those at the Montreal jazz festival, and others who saw him open for Cesaria Evora at Place des Arts or open for Paco de Lucia at Centennial Concert Hall, all climbed aboard his travelling guitar. It was a few days before they regained their footing.
