Choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky’s The Rite of Spring was so controversial that during the 1913 premiere, audience members had fistfights in the aisles. The cause? Kids these days with their so-called music and their inappropriate dancing. Fast-forward to the present and parents still don’t understand. Cas Public’s Variations S is a refreshing, high-energy work inspired by the Ballet Russes and the infamous Nijinsky choreography. Comprised of eight dancers and a live DJ, Variations S is a bold homage to fierce teenage determination to break from the crowd and carve out a place of their own. MORE
